Teaching content and culture through proficiency-driven instruction

I was messaging with my amazingly talented friend, AnneMarie Chase the other day and she sparked an idea that I couldn’t get out of my mind: an easy-to-complete student self-evaluation based on ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines.
The end result is a Google Slide that can be copied and linked to a digital interactive notebook or assigned in Google Classroom or other LMS.
The best part? It’s drag-n-drop! All students have to do is click on the check mark on the left and drag-n-drop to the proficiency level they think fits best.
I plan to assign to students a few times throughout the year. In an effort at helping students notice their own growth over time, there will be no grade attached.
You can download your own copy here. There are both Novice and Intermediate slides.
Happy teaching!
